Manipur: Thugs attack Kukizo Congress chief’s official residence in Churachandpur, aerial fire reportedly

Imphal: A mob tried to break into the residence of Kuki Zo Municipal Council Chairman H Thanglet ManipurThe armed men then opened fire to disperse them, officials said.The incident took place on Sunday night after youths protested against the reported presence of militants at the house of the chairman at the district headquarters.Officials said they threw rocks at his residence in the afternoon and even tried to break in, but were stopped by security forces who fired tear gas shells to disperse the youths.However, on Sunday night, the youths again tried to break into the president’s residence before armed men opened fire to stop them.Some agitators also burned tires in Tuibong area near Churachandpur town, but security forces fired tear gas shells to disperse them, officials added.
