United States: Destroy Iranian bases that threaten Hormuz oil route transportation

The U.S. military announced on Saturday that it had dismantled an Iranian bunker in the Strait of Hormuz that contained weapons that threatened oil and gas shipments. The U.S. statement appeared aimed at calming concerns in energy markets and Washington’s skeptical international allies.Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command, said U.S. warplanes dropped a 5,000-pound bomb on an underground facility off the coast of Iran that housed anti-ship cruise missiles, mobile launchers and other equipment. “Not only did we destroy the facility, we destroyed the intelligence support site and the missile radar relay station used to monitor ship movements,” Cooper said in a video statement, revealing details of the attack first announced on Tuesday.
