The party said in a statement that the government must be forced to “stop signing any agreement that harms the interests of Indian workers and farmers…”.

Dipankar Bhattacharya, liberation general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), said: “The trade agreement framework represents a mild capitulation by the Modi government to Trump’s directives. It is a blatant attack on India’s sovereignty, autonomy and the rights and livelihoods of our farmers.”
