Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Saturday, the nation was wished Eid al-Fitr through posts on social media.In his message, he said: “Best wishes for Eid al-Fitr. May this day further enhance brotherhood and goodwill. May everyone be happy and healthy. Eid al-Fitr!”President Drupadi Murmu also extended greetings to citizens on the eve of the festival on Friday.“On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all my compatriots, especially our Muslim brothers and sisters living in India and abroad,” she said in her message, adding that the festival conveys “the message of love, brotherhood, peace and mutual harmony.”Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country after sighting the Chauwar crescent moon. The festival marks the end of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Muslim calendar.In Delhi, several devotees gathered at Jama Masjid for special Eid prayers on Saturday morning. The atmosphere was lively as people greeted each other and started the celebration.Large crowds were also seen at Jama Masjid and nearby markets on Friday as people made final purchases before Eid.
