Mike King: Five things to know

1. King impersonated a law enforcement officer

CBS News reports that King is wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer to run “Off-duty Police Service,” an internet platform that connects North Texas police officers with off-duty work.

2. King has held many government positions and has a criminal record

King allegedly used license plates taken from vehicles outside the recruiting center and drove a replica undercover police car, according to law enforcement sources.

His past includes a criminal history, cbs news the report said. This has raised concerns about how he will be able to secure senior security posts for sitting MPs while managing the extra work of police.

3. He runs a security-related business

King reportedly runs a company called Off-duty Police Services, an online platform that connects police officers in North Texas with off-duty security efforts.

He was in charge of the security team at the church and several hotels in downtown Dallas, according to sources.

4. King was killed in a SWAT standoff.

King died after a confrontation with a Dallas police SWAT officer after he allegedly pointed a gun at police during a confrontation in a hospital parking lot.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night dallas as fugitive task force officers attempted to approach King. Authorities said he locked himself in a car in the hospital parking lot before SWAT officers intervened.

Police used tear gas to try to force him out of the car. When King finally emerged, police said he pointed a gun at them, prompting the SWAT team to open fire, killing him instantly.

5. King worked for Rep. Jasmine Crockett

Law enforcement sources said King served on Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett’s security team.

According to CBS News, King was seen standing next to Crockett at events and campaigns during Crockett’s most recent campaign for a U.S. Senate seat.

CBS News also reported that it had seen documents showing Crockett paid a man named Mike King for “security services” last year.
