While hearing a plea seeking equal inheritance rights for Muslim women, the judges said there were many asymmetries in different societies, including tribal ones.“Can these be knocked down by SC?” it asked.“Has the goal of equality between a man and a woman, i.e. monogamous marriage, been achieved? Can the SC abolish all polygamous marriages in the country?” it added.
