New Delhi: The joint opposition is likely to immediately move a recall notice for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar after the Lok Sabha withdrew the ‘removal notice’ against the Speaker About Birlaby Wednesday at the latest. A notification against the CEC may be filed in the Federal Chamber.sources said TMC The demand was raised by the opposition India Bloc during a regular strategy meeting at the office of Congress chief Mallikarjun Haq on Monday when the budget session resumed after a break.TMC MP Shatabdi Roy is learned to be impressed by the growing problem of particularly intensive scrutiny of electoral rolls in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming elections. She is said to have mentioned the need to follow up on the TMC’s demand for CEC. Opposition parties have joined it and will submit notifications soon, sources said. The consensus is significant as the TMC has been demanding a removal notice against CEC Kumar for months, though its urgent plea failed to get an immediate nod from other allies. Interestingly, the TMC did not sign the “deletion notice” filed by the joint opposition against Speaker Birla at the end of the first half of the budget session in February. The Times of India reported on February 14 that the opposition parties will file a notice against the CEC after the parliament resumes session. The sudden convergence between the TMC and other members of the Indian group was evident on Sunday when the Bengal Group announced that it would uphold the no-confidence in the Speaker despite not signing a “removal notice”.The successive no-confidence motions against the two constitutional authorities are likely to complicate already tense relations between the opposition and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA and could make the differences between the rival camps irreconcilable.
