Bahrain’s Interior Ministry announced the arrest of two people, aged 27 and 37, on charges of abusing social media, saying the content they posted constituted an illegal act and was likely to harm security and public order.The arrests were carried out by the Anti-Cybercrime Directorate under the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, the ministry said in an official statement. The suspects were caught live streaming and recording video clips, which were later posted on their personal social media accounts.According to authorities, the material was presented in a manner that constituted an offense. The statement pointed out that the content may affect security and public order and incite public opinion, prompting relevant departments to take immediate action.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to monitoring and addressing violations related to electronic platforms, especially content that may threaten public stability. It stressed that a legal framework has been put in place to regulate digital conduct and necessary action will be taken against those found to have violated it.The bureau confirmed that legal procedures are being finalized to transfer the two suspects to the public prosecution. Once the referral process is complete, the case will be processed in accordance with applicable law.
