World of Warcraft server down: Thousands report issues with role playing game
Player of World of Warcraft, the indie action and role-playing simulation game by Blizzard is down for thousands of users in the United States. According to Down Detectora platform that tracks such outages based on users’ reports, nearly 3000 users are reporting the outage.

Blizzard responded to the outageposting on X: “We are currently investigating an issue which may result in disconnections from the game. We apologize for the inconvenience!”
The graph on Down Detector showed that the outage started around 7am ET before peaking 15 minutes later with 2,965 reports. After that, the number of reports fell. As of 8:30pm ET, reports had dropped to just 55.
The classification of the reports on the platform showed that 57% of the reports were complaints about server connections. 25% complained about logging in, while 14% said they faced issues with game launch.

Company Clarifies Amidst Claims Of DDOS Attack
After the outage, claim spread on social media that the servers of World of Warcraft was suffered a DDOS attack. Hundreds of posts were made on X, the platform formerly called Twitter, speculating about an attack. However, Blizzard stepped in and clarified that it was not a DDOS attack.
“No, this doesn’t appear to be a DDOS. I’m afraid I don’t have any details outside of a “technical issue,” the company’s support page wrote.
Nonetheless, claims about a potential DDOS attack continued to spread on social media.
“WoW might be getting DDoS attacked, all my homies keep hard disconnecting. Be careful if you’re in keys!” wrote one.
World of Warcraft boats an active player base of between 8.9 million to 13 million per month, according to the platform ActivePlayer.
