Reactions on X have been strong:

One user wrote, “I’m not going to apologize for what I’m about to say. This woman doesn’t have a shred of remorse for what she did. The coldness on her face and in her gaze says a lot.”

Another user commented, “Not a smidge of a smidge of remorse. That face is an image of a demon.”

Another user wrote, “She looks like how soon can I flee this joint and party This b—h is guilty as hell of cold-blooded murder.”

Others were more direct in their criticism. One user said, “She’s a narcissist. So incredibly selfish. She amgeee me to no end. Her poor children.”

One simply wrote, “Pure evil”

While one wrote, “I’ve watched this woman weep during this trial to the point the judge stopped it for a moment so she could gather herself. I’m a Republican all day..she’s admitted to killing them. She was mentally insane by prescription pills inducing mania.”

What has come up in the trial so far

Clancy, 36, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan who were killed at the family’s Duxbury home on January 24, 2023.

During testimony, forensic psychiatrist Dr Avram Mack told the court that Clancy remembered instructing the children to “go to God” while she was strangling them. Clancy told him she heard a “loud” voice repeatedly instructing her to “kill” the children “so you can kill yourself,” as per Mack. She then killed Dawson while saying “go to God,” a phrase she repeated during all three killings, he said.

Defense witness Dr Phillip Resnickwho also testified in the 2006 trial of Andrea Yates, said Clancy was “clearly psychotic” on the day of the killings. He testified that she experienced command hallucinations and believed an “external force” had taken over her body.

He told jurors that, “She felt that she had to obey the instructions.”

He added, “It was a matter where she was just following the command, rather than being able to make any decision to do this or not.”

Resnick also said Clancy believed she was helping her children by sending them to heaven with her, as per The Guardian.

Closing arguments are expected to begin early next week. If the jury finds Clancy not guilty because of insanity, she would be sent to a state psychiatric hospital and reviewed regularly. If she is found guilty, she would face life in prison without parole.
