What’s happening at Virginia State University? Multiple injured amid shooting, campus under lockdown
Virginia State University shooting: Authorities reported on Friday that police are conducting an investigation into a shooting at Virginia State University, which resulted in several individuals being injured.
The incident occurred near the Quad Annexes, specifically in the vicinity of Boisseau Street and Third Avenue, according to Virginia State University.
Several people sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals. The university said that none of the injuries seem to be life-threatening.
Virginia State University stated that the shooting involved multiple suspects.

Virginia State University is currently under lockdown as VSU Police, along with Chesterfield County Police, conduct an investigation.
Both the university and Chesterfield County Police are urging individuals to steer clear of the vicinity. Students and members of the campus community are advised to adhere to the directives of law enforcement.

Taking to X, Major Andrea Riesmeyer informed that the CCPD is presently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on the campus of Virginia State University.
“Multiple injuries are reported with victims transported to area hospitals. Police request that you avoid the area. Students should continue to shelter in place.”
Virginia State University (VSU), established in 1882, is a historically Black institution. It is situated in Chesterfield County, approximately 20 miles to the south of Richmond.
