Trump’s interview

Trump said in an interview with Axios on Thursday that the United States was ready for a large-scale strike, but stressed that he had not yet made a final decision. Two U.S. officials separately confirmed that no new orders had been issued to the military and no decisions had been made.

“I’m considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before,” Trump told Axios. “I’m about to make a decision. We’re ready.”

The president did not specify when the decision would be made, but acknowledged that any military action could have consequences. The developments come at a time of tense relations between Washington and the United States. Tehran Oil prices continued to rise, with oil prices topping $100 a barrel amid fears of a wider conflict.

Trump says Israel may join US action

Trump said Israel could take part in any new U.S. military action against Iran if he asked it to, but added that Washington did not need the support of allies to launch an operation.

“If I asked Israel to join, they would join in two minutes,” Trump said, adding that “we don’t need anybody” to carry out the attack. He also suggested there could be consequences for Israel’s involvement, pointing to possible Iranian retaliation.

Why tensions between the U.S. and Iran are rising

Iran continues its regional activities while Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have expanded attacks on Saudi ships in the Red Sea, adding pressure on another major shipping corridor.
