The public battle between Candace Owens and Turning Point USA has taken another turn after the two sides clashed over the Daily Mail’s coverage of the 2025 assassination. Charlie Kirk. On July 22, TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet said the organization had never received a request for comment before the story was published and questioned whether the article accurately reflected Erika Kirk’s views. Owens countered by sharing screenshots that she said showed the Daily Mail had contacted her team before publication and challenged Corvert to seek legal action if he believed the report contained fabricated quotes. The exchange became the latest chapter in their long-running dispute over Owens’ continued coverage of Charlie Kirk’s death.

The latest controversy began when Andrew Kolvet claimed that TPUSA did not receive any requests for comment from the Daily Mail before its story was published. He wrote: “We never received a request for comment. We were told they tried to send one but we couldn’t find one. Bizarrely, every other media outlet on the planet seemed to know how to contact us, including the Daily Mail.”Corvette also argued that the article did not reflect the way Erica Kirk spoke and said the newspaper later made significant corrections. He added, “It’s unfortunate to see the Daily Mail taking orders from Candace Owens, who of course uses it as anger bait on the show as she has no actual evidence to discuss as she continues her lucrative ‘investigation.'” Maybe she is the anonymous source? “Owens responded that she had doubts about Corvette’s version of events and urged him to request a correction if it was true. She wrote: “If this is true, which I highly doubt as it is strikingly similar to an article written and spearheaded by Erica’s family friend Tracy Martin for US Magazine, then you should demand a public response from the Daily Mail and a retraction.”Shortly after, Owens posted screenshots that she said proved her team received requests for comment before the article was published. She added, “Here you go @AndrewKolvet, please keep us updated. We were notified hours before this article was published seeking comment. “

Andrew Corvert and Candace Owens continue public controversy About Erica Kirk

The back and forth didn’t stop there. Corvette questioned why Owens did not share the emails publicly before the article was published. He wrote, “Candace, please guess the riddle… We all know what you do when an article you don’t like comes out. You post emails, attack reporters, and go on social media rants. Why didn’t you do that this time? Is it because you were part of the scheme? Just asking.”Owens denied the allegation and noted that she had discussed the report on her show. She replied: “Genius, I literally spent an entire episode responding to this article. Also please stop the ‘just asking questions’ cringe. 😂 You’ve been backed into a corner. If you say a reporter made up quotes from Erica’s family and friends, then you should take legal action. That’s an easy retraction. Literally, this reporter will lose her job. Are you trying?”Owens also argued that the Daily Mail only corrected spelling errors she said referred to “family friends” and “family members” and did not retract the article. She maintained that if the quotes were indeed fabricated, TPUSA should file a defamation lawsuit. So far, neither side has made concessions and the dispute remains fierce.
