He is an advocate of climate change and melting glaciers,” Tanka said, adding that the detained activist was a widely respected and influential figure in Ladakh society and across the country. “It is time for the government to review his detention under the NSA,” he said.Tanka said Wangchuck represented “honesty, innovation and selfless service” and that the climate activist was not only deeply respected in Ladakh, but also nationally and internationally.
