D4vd asks judge to remove handcuffs ahead of preliminary hearing in Celeste Rivas murder case

Singer D4vd asked a Los Angeles judge to let him appear in court without handcuffs or other restraints during a preliminary hearing. According to NBC 4 Los Angeles, the hearing is about to begin, and prosecutors are expected to present evidence in an effort to convince the judge that there is enough evidence to take the case to trial. Lawyers for D4vd said the singer had behaved appropriately during all previous court appearances and had never tried to escape or disrupt the proceedings, arguing that the restrictions were unnecessary.

D4vd files a request to appear without handcuffs at court hearing

D4vd’s attorney, Blair Berk, filed a motion asking the court to remove the singer’s handcuffs and other restraints during his preliminary hearing, NBC 4 Los Angeles reported.Burke argued in the motion that D4vd had attended five court hearings without causing any trouble. She said he never tried to escape, did not act violently and followed all court rules. Therefore, the defense argued that he should be allowed to appear in court without restrictions. As of now, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlene Olmedo has not made a decision on the request. The preliminary hearing is an important step in this case. At the hearing, the prosecutor will present evidence to the judge. They must prove there is enough evidence to move the case to a full murder trial. Some of the evidence expected to be presented in court may be graphic, the report said.

Prosecutor prepares to present evidence Celeste Rivas Murder

D4vd was arrested in April and charged with the first-degree murder of Celeste Rivas. About seven months ago, the teen’s body was found dismembered in a Tesla that authorities said was owned by him.In addition to the murder charge, prosecutors charged him with lewd and lascivious conduct involving a child under 14 and mutilation of a corpse.Prosecutors allege that D4vd began having sex with Celeste when she was 13. They said they have collected several pieces of evidence, including DNA, surveillance video, text messages and phone records, that they believe link him to the girl’s death.D4vd has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He has been detained since his arrest earlier this year while the criminal case continues.A judge will first decide whether there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial. The court has not yet ruled on D4vd’s request to have his handcuffs removed during the preliminary hearing. Until then, legal proceedings will continue and the charges against him remain unproven in court.
