Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell’s health has been the biggest headline of the past two weeks. on Friday, kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he had received calls from agencies saying Mitch McConnell may have died, but did not elaborate further.

Since 84-year-old Mitch McConnell was hospitalized, there has been a lot of misinformation surrounding his health. As Gov. Andy Beshear’s comments began to make headlines, misinformation related to them began to spread on social media.

One of them comes from Keith Edwards, a well-known American internet personality with millions of followers on social media.

Doubling down on previous reports that Governor Beshear received a call regarding the death of Mitch McConnell, Keith Edwards claims The governor is seeking a constitutional provision to directly fill McConnell’s Senate seat in his long absence.

“Governor Beshear is reportedly preparing to test whether the Kentucky Constitution allows him to directly fill a Senate vacancy — bypassing Republicans’ 2024 special election law and encouraging Republicans to take him to court,” he wrote, sharing a link to Governor Beshear’s claims about receiving calls from agencies.

However, Ht.com can confirm that there are no credible reports that Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear plans to name a successor to Senate Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

McConnell’s office insists the senator is currently recovering. So far, two photos of the senator in the hospital have emerged, the latest being the latest news that the 84-year-old senator has been moved to a rehab center as his recovery continues.

Edwards’ claims spread like wildfire on social media due to the already existing appeal of Governor Beshear’s previous comments.

According to reporters in Washington, D.C., Mitch McConnell is currently hospitalized George Washington Hospital in the city. His rehab center is also located within the hospital, where the latest proof-of-life photos from his office are from.

Andy Beshear on agency calls

Speaking on Katie Couric’s YouTube channel, Gov. Andy Beshear claimed he received “two phone calls” from “different agencies” suggesting McConnell may have died.

“It was a month before anything was announced, not even a formal statement from Senator McConnell,” he said. “In fact, I received two phone calls from different agencies, not the state agency, indicating that he had passed.”
