‘Blood for blood’: Iran displays huge billboard with Donald, Melania and Trump’s children in coffins
A billboard unveiled in central Tehran shows US President Donald Trump and his family above a coffin draped in an American flag, escalating Iran’s message against Washington, with the slogan “blood for blood” prominently featured in the ongoing conflict between the two countries. The mural, installed in Palestine Plaza, depicts Trump, first lady Melania Trump and their five children: Ivanka, Donald Trump Jr., Eric, Tiffany and Barron, with the White House in the background above the casket, The Daily Telegraph reported. The billboard is the latest in a series of state-produced murals targeting Trump as military tensions between the United States and Iran continue to rise. The display also featured the slogan “blood for blood”, which reportedly threatened retaliation for US and Israeli attacks that killed Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several members of his family. On February 28, Khamenei was killed in a US-Israeli attack. His daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and young granddaughter were also killed. Since then, photos of Khamenei and his relatives have been displayed across Iran, including at his funeral. The latest billboard comes days after another giant billboard appeared in Tehran’s Enkhrab Square, showing Trump lying in an open black coffin with “We kill Trump” written underneath in Farsi and English. The mural shows Trump with his eyes and mouth closed, his hair disheveled and his hands resting on a red tie. White graffiti on the coffin also read “In memory of the children of Minab,” referring to the southern Iranian city where a strike occurred at an elementary school on February 28.The Palestinian Plaza Wall has for years served as a platform for state-sponsored murals with anti-American and anti-Israel messages. Supporters of the Iranian government often gather there, waving Palestinian and Hezbollah flags. The largest mural in Tehran was designed by the Owj arts and media organization, which has links to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), The Telegraph reports. The displays are often used to oppose negotiations with the United States and to promote the Islamic Republic’s regional, nuclear and missile policies. The latest murals follow several increasingly threatening murals across Tehran in recent weeks. In addition to depicting Trump inside a casket, another mural shows his face in the crosshairs of a rifle, while another features a “Who’s next?” message in the name of Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, who died earlier this month. The displays come as the United States steps up its military campaign against Iran. Earlier this week, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the U.S. military had launched new strikes against Iranian command centers, air defense systems, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities, including targets near Bandar Abbas Port and on Grand Tunb Island. After Khamenei’s killing, Iranian officials repeatedly vowed to retaliate. His son and successor Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said those responsible would not “die peacefully in their beds,” The Telegraph reported.Days earlier, an Iran-backed militia umbrella group calling itself the Islamic Resistance Movement in Iraq announced a $10 million bounty for anyone who kills Trump, saying it was retaliation for a 2020 U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.Trump has previously warned that any attempt by Iran to assassinate him would be met with a “harsh and destructive” response from the United States.
