Lynn Marie Zamora: ‘No beer in cab’: Florida woman stabs friend with scissors during argument
A 32-year-old Florida woman was arrested after she stabbed a friend with a pair of scissors during an Uber ride during an argument over a beer in the car, arrest records show.The incident occurred on Monday when Lynn Marie Zamora and the victim took an Uber from a hotel in Miami to another friend’s residence, the New York Post reported.According to investigators, Zamora wanted to drink beer during the ride. However, the victim told her multiple times that alcohol was not allowed in the Uber car. Authorities said Zamora became angry during the exchange.She then took a pair of scissors from her purse and stabbed the victim twice – once in the left bicep and once in the left calf, police said.
The Uber driver stopped the car and called 911
Immediately after the alleged attack, the Uber driver pulled over and got out of the car. The victim also escaped and called emergency services.Police arrived and arrested Zamora. The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and his injuries were not life-threatening.Investigators said the Uber driver corroborated the victim’s version of events.
Aggravated battery charging
Zamora was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to Turner-Guilford Knight Correctional Center.Uber’s Community Guidelines prohibit riders from bringing open containers of alcohol into vehicles or consuming alcohol during rides booked through the platform.
Court hears previous convictions
During his court appearance via video link, Zamora was on probation for a previous assault conviction involving a person aged 65 or older.The court also heard she had multiple previous convictions for assault and battery and a conviction for tampering with electronic monitoring equipment.Her attorney asked that she be transferred to a hospital, but the judge denied the request, citing pending probation violations that must first be resolved in a separate hearing.The judge ordered Zamora detained with probable cause and set her bail at $7,500. She is scheduled to appear in court again on the latest charges on August 12.
