Here are fact checks on the claims Trump made during his key speech today.

Zero illegal aliens in the past 14 months

President Trump said there have been zero illegal immigrants or aliens entering the United States in the past 14 months. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Announce “The 14th straight month of zero releases at the border continues an unprecedented trend of historically low border crossings.”

However, in May 2026, NewsNation report U.S.-Mexico border enforcement agencies are seeing a continued increase in the number of immigrants entering the United States illegally.

Murder rate at lowest level since 1900

Trump spoke of the country’s historically low crime rate and said the murder rate is at its lowest level since 1900. This stems from a report by the Criminal Justice Commission.

“When the FBI reports national data for jurisdictions of all sizes later this year, homicides will likely drop to about 4.0 per 100,000 residents in 2025. That would be the lowest rate recorded in law enforcement or public health data since 1900 and would mark the largest single-year percentage decline in homicide rates on record.” Report read.

Trump has touted this number in the past, saying, “Think about it, this is the biggest decline on record. The lowest number in 125 years — 1900,” which is similar to what he said today.

This statistic has also been reported by several media outlets including NPR, Axios, and the BBC. So Trump is right about the murder rate.

Inflation hits biggest monthly drop in more than six years

Yes, the June inflation report did show a decline. The consumer price index fell 0.4% in June, the largest monthly decline since April 2020.

This was driven by a nearly 10% drop in natural gas prices, offsetting continued increases in housing and food costs, according to WLKY. While Trump touted that number in his speech today, which is actually correct, the president doesn’t seem to be painting the full picture.

Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh warned against premature optimism, saying: “There may be some people who look at the data this morning and say, ‘Oh, mission accomplished. Everything’s fine.'” That’s not my point. Another expert warned that headline inflation could rise next month.

Tyler Schipper, an economist at the University of St. Thomas, told the publication that “the fact that energy prices have helped lower headline inflation will reverse course next month and we may see a rise in headline inflation in the news,” while the Iran war adds a level of uncertainty.

Worst inflation in 48 years

Trump reiterated that he inherited an economy experiencing the worst inflation in 48 years, effectively blaming the Joe Biden administration. While the President reiterated this statement in his speech today, it is false.

Although the U.S. inflation rate reached an approximately 40-year high (not a 48-year high) of 9.1% in June 2022 during the Biden administration, it is far from the historical record of 23.7% set in 1920. In addition, CNN fact-checked Trump’s claims earlier, two years after Trump took office and inflation had dropped significantly. famous.

The biggest and best army

Trump’s claim to have the “largest” military is untrue in terms of troop numbers, countries like China and India have far more military personnel, according to Business Insider. However, it was unclear whether the president was referring to troop levels or the defense budget.

Trump has also claimed U.S. victory in Iran, but reports of the conflict suggest a protracted and escalating conflict with the United States, which has tightened its naval blockade and launched air strikes and Iran retaliated by targeting U.S. assets and allies in the Gulf.

More Americans are working today than ever before

President Trump has made this claim several times during his second term. While this is true in terms of the number of working Americans, this is only due to population growth. So any future president could make the same claim based on the size of the workforce.

However, analyzing the data shows a different story. The employment peak will arrive in January 2026 and will decline next month. according to WRAL. The labor force participation rate and employment-to-population ratio are high but not at record highs. The publication noted that Trump’s performance in his second term was inferior to the first-term performance of his predecessors, Obama, Biden, and himself.

The publication fact-checked the statement, noting that it was partially true but left out important details or was taken out of context.
