Illinois shooting: Two teens arrested at Frank Holten State Park; shocking details of 5 dead, 2 injured
Two teenagers detained in connection with shooting that targeted a Southland family illinoisAccording to officials, five people were killed and two injured in the crash.

The two suspects, ages 15 and 16, were arrested on July 12 at Frank Holten State Park, a recreational site near East St. Louis, according to police. illinois State Police. The arrests were made after state police performed a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver) on a vehicle driven by one of the suspects, USA Today reported.
Illinois State Police Superintendent Brendan Kelly said at a brief news conference that the shootings occurred in three different locations within a few miles of each other and targeted members of the same family.
“At least seven members of the targeted family were shot at multiple locations in the East St. Louis area, and to date, five victims have been confirmed deceased.” Kelly Two other people were seriously injured, the statement said.

Kelly said at least one of the suspects has contact with the victim. State police chose not to release more information about the suspect or details of the shooting, USA Today reported.
Kelly noted that state police are working with the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office to file charges against the suspect. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
East St. Louis is located in St. Clair County, Illinois, and has a population of nearly 18,000 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The city is located across the Mississippi River from downtown St. Louis.
Illinois shooting: Victim’s identity revealed
The victim killed in the shooting has been identified.
State police have identified the five victims: Cherie L. May, 49; Devin D. May, 24; Patricia A. May, 74; Quentin L. Thompson, 21; and Shania W. Thompson, 25.
One victim was shot near North 39th Street and Summit Avenue, three others were killed at the Samuel Gompers House, and another victim died from his injuries in Jones Park, according to Kelly.
Kelly also reported that two other victims were injured at Jones Park but survived. They are currently being treated for serious injuries at a St. Louis hospital.
