Two brothers detained by Pakistan army found dead in Balochistan; death in custody issue raised
Two brothers allegedly detained by Pakistani security personnel were later found dead with gunshot wounds on their bodies in Balochistan’s Keh district, raising concerns about their treatment in custody.The victims were identified as Imam and Muhammad Umar, residents of Mandshaban Chowk and reportedly employed as laborers in Kuntani area of Jiwani, ANI reported quoting Balochistan Post.The brothers were reportedly returning to Mande on their motorcycles and stopped near Baricha intersection when their vehicle reportedly ran out of petrol. Security personnel detained two people at the scene, the publication said, citing witnesses.The family later received the body through local police. Residents said both men suffered gunshot wounds.After funeral prayers, the brothers were buried in their ancestral village in Soro, Mandeb province. The incident has sparked concern among local residents, who are questioning the circumstances that led to their deaths.According to reports, before the identity of the deceased was announced, several pro-military social media accounts claimed that two suspected militants were killed during a security operation in the area. However, residents disputed these claims, saying the dead were the two workers and insisting they had no links to the militants.There has been no official response from the Pakistani military or government to the alleged detentions or deaths.Human rights group Pank of the Balochistan National Movement (BNM) condemned the incident, claiming that the brothers were victims of extrajudicial killings. The group urges authorities to order an independent and transparent investigation and calls for accountability if allegations are proven.
