British MP Rupert Lowe unveils tough policy on Pakistan as Islamabad refuses to accept Shabir Ahmed's deportation

UK MP Rupert Lowe outlines a tough approach Pakistan Refusing to accept the deportation of convicted rapist Shabbir Ahmed from the UK. He said any action should be “swift, ruthless and brutal” to drive home the message clearly. In a post on X, the Great Yarmouth MP and leader of Renew Britain explained his plans. He said if his party came to power, Pakistan would be labeled a “rogue state” from day one. The idea is to exert strong pressure on Pakistan through economic and political measures.Lowe said his plan would stop all immigration from Pakistan to the UK. He also wants to impose trade sanctions and tariffs that could harm Pakistan’s economy. Among other things, he suggested taxing funds provided by Britain to Pakistan, halting all foreign aid, and even requiring Pakistan to repay Britain for money it had already spent. He added that these actions should not be taken in isolation. Instead, he wants other countries to join in so the pressure will be even greater. He said if multiple countries acted together, it would be harder for people to find ways around restrictions.Under his proposal, these strict measures would remain in place until Pakistan agrees to gradually repatriate large numbers of deported criminals. Only after that, he said, could the issue of easing restrictions be discussed. The comments follow recent controversy involving Shabir Ahmed, who was linked to the Rochdale grooming gang case. In 2012, Ahmed was imprisoned for serious sex crimes against underage girls and sentenced to 22 years in prison. However, he was released early after serving about 14 years in prison and currently lives under strict surveillance with a GPS tag.The case has sparked political debate as the British government has been trying to deport him but has been blocked by legal rules relating to the Commonwealth Immigration Act 1971 and Pakistan’s refusal to accept him.
