A Saudi man was executed in the Tabuk region on Tuesday for luring his wife to a remote desert area and setting her on fire and murdering her, the interior ministry said.According to the ministry, the man convinced his wife to drive with him and then took her to a remote location in the desert. He then poured petrol over her and set her on fire, causing her death.Authorities said the defendant was arrested shortly after the incident and that he was charged with murder following an investigation, CNN Arabic reported.A Saudi court sentenced him to death, ruling that the murder involved deception and betrayal as the victim was led to believe she was safe with him.The ministry said the verdict was upheld on appeal and later confirmed by the Supreme Court. A royal order was subsequently issued to carry out the sentence.The execution took place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the Tabuk region.The execution reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining public security, ensuring justice and enforcing Islamic law against those who have committed serious violent crimes, the interior ministry said in a statement.It also warned that anyone committing similar crimes would face penalties under Saudi law.
