Seaside Fire: Wildfire breaks out near Camp Pendleton, sending thick smoke over San Diego; check map, visuals
one wildfire Outbreak near Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, San Diego County california on Monday. The fire, described as a “pipe fire,” was located about 3 miles north of Stewart Mesa Road and Hammond Avenue, according to Watch Duty.

According to Watch Duty, the fire has now spread to more than 150 acres. Camp Pendleton posted Facebook updates A smoke alert was issued for the area in response to the incident. They said the Camp Pendleton Fire Department was responding to the incident and had issued an evacuation warning for the nearby area.
“A vegetation fire is currently active on Range 501,” the update reads. “The Camp Pendleton Fire Department is currently responding. “The fire is burning medium fuel and is spreading at a moderate rate.
“Base residents may see smoke. Evacuations have been ordered for 32 areas. For the latest updates, please monitor this page.”
Smoke from the fires could be seen in San Diego and beyond, with residents as far north as Fallbrook reporting smoke Monday afternoon. Nearby North County Fire Department Shared X’s update A large number of 911 calls were reported reporting a possible fire.
“Camp Pendleton is currently experiencing a vegetation fire at the base. Smoke may be visible, but there is no fire threat in our area,” the update reads.
Pipe Fire Map: Check Affected Areas
The fire is located off the San Diego Freeway between Stewart and Las Flores. Sea breezes pushed the fire further north toward Fallbrook and further down toward Temecula.
Just southeast of the Pipe Fire toward Vista, another fire called the Twin Fire is burning, covering 3.8 acres.
