The comments come as Europe is experiencing one of its worst heat waves on record. France, the Netherlands and Belgium suffered a combined 3,700 excess deaths during the June heat wave, Reuters reported, with authorities warning that the figures were preliminary and could rise further.France was the worst-hit country, with an excess death toll of 2,025 during the heat wave. French Health Minister Stephanie Riester said there has been a sharp increase in deaths among people over the age of 45.According to experts, the heat wave, which lasted from June 20 to 28, was one of the worst recorded in Europe. Soaring temperatures have disrupted power generation, damaged infrastructure and put severe pressure on health care systems in several countries.
