The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the deadly “fidayee” (suicide commando) attack on the Pakistan Coast Guard camp in the Panwan area of Gwadarjiwani. The separatist group claimed that the attack killed more than 30 Pakistani security personnel and injured many others. Balochistan The post was reported.According to reports, the attack took place on Friday night and was carried out by the BLA’s elite Majid Brigade. The group claimed that a suicide bomber named Attaullah Baloch, also known as Ajmal, drove a Mazda truck laden with explosives into the heavily fortified Coast Guard camp at about 6:32 pm local time, triggering a massive explosion.“Due to this powerful explosion, the Coast Guard’s fortified colonial camp was completely reduced to a pile of rubble,” BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said in an official statement. The BLA’s media outlet Hakkal also released a 43-second video that it claimed showed a truck filled with explosives entering the camp before the explosion. Later footage showed a large part of the military camp had been destroyed, the group said. The BLA said the Fatah squad launched a coordinated ground attack after the truck bombing.“After the attack, the Fatah squad, the vanguard force of our organization, moved forward quickly and in an organized manner, attacking the destroyed camp from all directions,” the BLA statement read. The group claimed that its militants then engaged in close combat with surviving coast guard personnel and killed more than 30 security personnel during the operation. The PLA spokesman added: “Given the critical condition of the injured and those trapped under the rubble, enemy casualties are likely to further increase.”The BLA said it would release a detailed account of the attack through official channels soon. The banned group also said that armed operations against Pakistani security forces would continue “with the same intensity” until what it called “the complete independence of Balochistan”.The Pakistani military and government have yet to issue official statements confirming the number of casualties or the extent of damage claimed by the Pakistan Liberation Army.
