A man from California has pleaded guilty to fraudulent ransom requests in connection with the Nancy Guthrie case.

Carrera admitted in the petition that she called and texted Guthrie’s family on February 4, shortly after Guthrie’s disappearance, requesting a Bitcoin transfer.
Carrera acknowledged that he was aware of the previous ransom demands, as federal officials have said, and acknowledged that he acted in an effort to harass the family with questions about the investigation into Guthrie’s disappearance.
Carrera could face up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is scheduled for September 10.
