The digital content creator shared her experience on Instagram, taking her followers to a high-end grocery store. She shows off a variety of everyday staples, but the real shocker comes at the end of the video, when she discovers a pack of strawberries costs $1,700. Her light-hearted remarks resonated with global citizens who felt similar aspirations abroad.

“Strawberry,” Macy Dye wrote on Instagram, along with a crying-laughing emoji. this video She shared the opening line with Day on the way to a high-end grocery store. The text inserted into the video reads: “Come with me today to see how expensive it is to buy American groceries in India.”

She then displays items in the store, from chips to ketchup, and shares the price of each item. At the end of the video, she shows off a pack of strawberries that cost $18, which is roughly the equivalent of $1,700. The text at the end of the video reads: “For a small price, you can feel at home.”

How was the social media reaction?

One person commented: “As an American living in India, I love comfort food once in a while.” Another wrote: “Haha! It’s like we spend $18 on cheese in the US.”

A third argued, “I’m not sure if you converted dollars to rupees correctly. $18 is approx. $1800. I don’t think there will be such expensive strawberries anymore. Another replied: “Those are imported from the United States and are about $There are 1500 food stories in Hyderabad. This is not a local seasonal dish. This will cost approx. $300- $500 during strawberry season. “

A fourth person wrote, “They are not made in India. These products are imported, so they are expensive. If you want inexpensive products or products made by these companies in India, then buy products made in India.” One Instagram user defended Dye, saying, “I don’t think she was asking for a cheaper alternative.”

Explaining his video, Dey told Hindustantimes.com, “I know the reason they are so high is because they are imported (and from higher-end grocery stores).”

Dye’s Instagram profile identifies her as a digital creator and interior designer. She often shares content that captures snippets of her life in India.
