A man has been arrested and charged in connection with kidnapping and murder A long-time postal worker and mother of two, North Carolina. William Craig Durham, 56, allegedly shot and killed Brandi Reynolds, leaving her children orphaned just months after their father died in a car crash in December.

Reynolds, 35, was found dead after calling authorities in Hays, North Carolina, for help, the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation said in a statement, NBC News reported.
“I can confirm that Brandi Reynolds was delivering mail on her route when the incident occurred,” said U.S. Postal Inspector Michael Martel.
Who is William Craig Durham?
Durham, 56, of the Roaring River community, was charged by Wilkes County prosecutors with first-degree kidnapping and murder. He was arrested the day of the murder and remained in the Wilkes County Jail on Tuesday, according to a third-party inmate information service used by Wilkes County.
Reynolds was shot to death in Hays, North Carolina, around 4:16 p.m. Friday, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. According to an arrest report obtained by The Charlotte Observer, Durham allegedly restrained Reynolds and moved the victim from one location to another without her consent.
An arrest warrant filed in district court claims Durham committed kidnapping “by unlawfully restraining the victim and moving the victim from one location to another without the victim’s consent.” It added that Durham carried out the alleged kidnapping “with the intent to intimidate” Reynolds and “inflict grievous bodily harm” on her.
District Court Judge Robert J. Crumpton ordered Durham to remain detained without bail, citing his “serious criminal record.” Durham has been in jail on charges including second-degree kidnapping, assault on a female and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to state prison records.
The murder is being investigated jointly by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
