“The Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship, which is too bad for our country, but with the president’s support we could easily remedy that through legislation in Congress, and that’s now established in the process,” Trump said on The Truth Society shortly after the Supreme Court’s ruling.

He added, “There is no need for a long, unwieldy constitutional amendment! Congress should start working today to end what is a costly and unfair situation for our country, birthright Country of Citizenship. They will have my full support! “

In the court’s view, Chief Justice Roberts said there was “insufficient evidence” to support the Trump administration’s “substantially revisionist view” of the Fourteenth Amendment and birthright citizenship limits.
