Passengers can choose from premium and comfort classes, and all seats are reserved in advance. Each seat is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and charging ports, and the trains operate using the advanced European Train Control System (ETCS2), enabling high levels of automation, safety and operational efficiency.Officials also highlighted the route’s scenic views, particularly between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, providing visitors with a unique perspective on the country’s diverse landscapes.
Seamless connectivity beyond railways
Etihad Rail said significant planning has been carried out to ensure passengers can easily reach the station via an integrated transport network. The company is working with the Abu Dhabi Transport Authority and other transport authorities to connect rail services with buses, taxis, ride-hailing services and public transport systems across the emirate.Future stations are also designed with connectivity in mind. For example, Dubai Station will be close to Dubai Metro stations, making rail-to-metro transfers more convenient for commuters.
Vision becomes reality
When talking about the significance of the opening, Etihad Rail officials said that this passenger railway is expected to reshape the way people travel, live and work across the UAE.“The first train from Fujairah this morning marks the national vision becoming part of everyday life,” an Etihad Rail executive said, adding that the network would create new opportunities for travel and bring communities closer together.
