50% off Etihad train tickets: Bookings open for passengers in UAE, fares start from AED 55
Etihad Rail has launched half-price fares open for passenger bookings/Picture – File

The countdown to one of the UAE’s most anticipated transport projects has officially entered its final stages.Etihad Rail has opened bookings for tickets for its first passenger train service, giving residents and visitors the chance to book a seat ahead of its launch on 30 June. The inaugural offer includes a 50% discount on fares, with fares on the first Abu Dhabi-Fujairah route starting from just AED 55.The launch marks the start of the UAE’s first inter-emirate passenger rail service, a project years in the making that is expected to transform travel between the country’s major cities and regions.

Etihad train ticket prices

Passengers booking the first batch of services are currently eligible for promotional fares.According to the booking platform, under the limited-time introductory offer, comfort class fares have been reduced from Dh109 to Dh55, while premium class fares have been reduced from Dh239 to Dh120. The promotion is applicable on the Abu Dhabi to Fujairah route, which will enter service on June 30.Etihad Rail has also introduced fare categories similar to airlines, allowing passengers to choose between Saver, Value and Flex fares based on the flexibility they need. Introductory pricing is expected to remain unchanged for a limited time before transitioning to a broader fare structure.Additional discounts are available for certain passenger groups. Children aged 2 to 17 years and passengers over 60 years old are eligible for discounted fares, while infants under 2 years old travel free when seated on a guardian’s lap.

How to book Etihad Rail tickets?

Bookings are now available via the Etihad Rail mobile app and official booking website. Passengers can select their preferred travel dates, cabin class and fare type, and then complete online payment. The original timetable showed three direct services operating in each direction each day.Trains from Abu Dhabi are scheduled to depart at 8:19 am, 1:53 pm and 6:39 pm. Flight services from Fujairah are at 5:34 am, 10:59 am and 5:28 pm.Demand is proving strong. Within hours of bookings opening, several launch day services were either sold out or had very limited remaining availability, underscoring the excitement surrounding the country’s first passenger rail service.

Abu Dhabi to Fujairah only takes 1 hour

The first route will connect Abu Dhabi Station in Mohammed bin Zayed City and Fujairah Station in Al Hilal City. The journey is expected to take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, which will significantly reduce travel time between the two emirates. While the June 30 launch focuses on Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, it is only the first phase of a larger nationwide network.Etihad Rail has confirmed it will open more stations in a phased manner, with Dubai and Al Zeid scheduled to join the network on September 30. Al Dhafra station is expected to open in December and Sharjah station is scheduled to open in March 2027.The wider network aims to create a more connected UAE, providing residents with an alternative to long-distance road journeys and supporting future economic growth across the emirate.

Looking to the future

Etihad Rail said passengers can look forward to a modern intercity travel experience built on comfort and convenience. The trains offer guaranteed seats, on-board Wi-Fi and dedicated passenger facilities. The fleet consists of 13 trains, each of which can carry up to 400 passengers.Extensive facilities have also been designed at the station, including car parking, prayer rooms, family waiting areas, F&B outlets, retail outlets, taxi areas, bus connections, ticketing counters and barrier-free facilities.Officials hope the service will eventually provide a faster, more convenient and sustainable way to travel between the emirates, just as the Dubai Metro did for urban transport.
