Serpa posted updates on Facebook about Nancy’s house and the community’s floral memorial in her honor.

On June 7, she reported that there was no longer a memorial at Nancy’s home. She wrote: “This monument has been removed from Nancy Guthrie’s house. I am devastated. Just like the woman it was meant for, it is gone.”

She added, “If the person who deleted it sees this message of mine on Facebook, then I can get it back and respectfully box it to my family.”

She declared she was determined to preserve the monument that was being removed from her home in Tucson. She wrote on June 13, “I remain committed to keeping Nancy’s name alive so she can be found. Word is circulating in chat that I am a memorial thief. These people have nothing better to do than start rumors and cause trouble. I did not take the memorial.”

Asked about the monument, she said: “At 4 o’clock this morning, I drove by Nancy and left a letter for the people who removed the monument. When I looked down, the lights in the main building and the hotel were on.”

She also shared a video and said she didn’t stop because she wanted to keep going. “Sorry the video sucked. Didn’t want to stop,” she wrote.

However, HT.com was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the video, when it was recorded, and whether the lights shown were related to any official event.
