US President Donald Trump On the evening of June 14, I watched a UFC mixed martial arts match on the South Lawn of the White House. The event coincides with Trump’s 80th birthday. UFC events are held under a massive 90-foot-tall building called “The Claw,” which is decorated with stars and stripes lights. A Colosseum-style arena was built specifically for the event on the South Lawn of the White House.

Trump sat ringside next to the UFC fight cage, known as the Octagon. Trump was joined by first lady Melania Trump and UFC CEO Dana White. Historians described the event as unprecedented because such a UFC show had never been held at the White House before. The event also marks Flag Day and serves as 250th Anniversary Celebration of the Founding of the United States.

Trump enters UFC arena

Before the game, Trump and Dana White walked from the Oval Office to the arena. The stadium held about 4,000 people, according to USA Today. The crowd erupted in cheers as Trump entered the venue.

Cabinet secretaries and U.S. military personnel also attended. Military aircraft flew over the White House as the national anthem was played. Boxers were seen warming up inside the White House grounds before the fight. Many fighters carry or wear American flags to the arena. USA Today said the sight of UFC fighters walking through the White House grounds was highly unusual.

UFC holds fight at White House

The first match pitted Brazilian boxer Diego Lopez against American boxer Steve Garcia. Diego Lopez Won the opening game. After the win, Lopez climbed onto the Octagon fence to celebrate. The crowd responded enthusiastically to the victory.

American boxer Bo Nickal defeated fellow American Kyle Daukaus in the match. After his victory, Bo Nikal thanked Trump for helping to host the event. According to USA Today, Nickell called Trump a “special guy” during an interview inside the Octagon.

Reactions from critics and supporters

Some critics have questioned the appropriateness of hosting a UFC event at the White House. Despite the criticism, many supporters view UFC events as a display of strength, patriotism and American pride.

Throughout the evening, attendees marched across the White House grounds chanting “USA! USA! USA!” The event combines Trump’s birthday celebrations, the UFC’s main fight card, Flag Day observances and patriotic themes into one White House-sized affair.
