What happened to Oliver Terry? Singer killed in Rio helicopter crash, 6 dead; gruesome details
Singer Oliver Terry Nickell was one of six people killed in a collision between two helicopters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, earlier today. CNN Brazil reporting. He is 32 years old.

CNN Brazil cited Rio de Janeiro police as confirming that the Santa Cruz-born singer californiaA helicopter with five passengers on board collided with another helicopter on Sunday morning. The other helicopter had only one pilot, who also died in the accident.
As of now, Oliver Terry’s family has not confirmed the details of the singer’s involvement in the accident. Earlier, Rio Mayor Eduardo Cavalier said “there were foreigners on one of the planes.” No further details were provided at the time.
The accident occurred in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, a seaside community Rio de Janeiro Southwest District. It is also a popular tourist destination.
Oliver Tree rose to fame with his 2017 single “When I’m Down” and signed with Atlantic Records that same year. He has since gone on to a stellar music career with multiple studio albums and a loyal following of alternative rock indie music.

The early morning plane crash remains under investigation and the cause has not yet been determined. Preliminary reports indicate the crash was caused by a mid-air fall collision.

Both helicopters crashed into an electric car park, sparking a fire and causing serious damage to the area. Lieutenant Colonel Fabio Contreiras of the Rio Fire Department told CNN that the fire caused damage to the scene and it was difficult to determine how the accident occurred.
“Parts of the plane are scattered hundreds of meters away, so the information we have is still very preliminary,” he said. “We really need to get the audio and video to understand exactly what happened.”
One of the helicopters carrying the five victims was found completely engulfed in flames, the lieutenant added.
