Burger King has closed another restaurant in the United States, even as the company embarks on a massive hiring drive across the country.

In April 2026, Restaurant Brands International (RBI), the parent company of Burger King, announced plans to hire up to 60,000 employees in the United States. The hiring campaign is aimed at filling positions for Burger King’s nearly 6,500 employees, ranging from entry-level positions to management positions. American restaurants, Yahoo Finance reports.
New menu items rolled out nationwide
While some restaurants are closing, Burger King continues to roll out new menu items and promotions to attract customers. Earlier this month, Burger King brought back its popular Crown Nuggets for the first time since 2011.
The returning chicken nuggets will be available nationwide on June 2. Burger King is also offering special Crayola-themed King Jr. meals starting June 9. The company says the new kids’ meals are designed to make family meals more fun and interactive.
Joel Yashinsky, chief marketing officer for Burger King U.S. and Canada, said Burger King wants to meet customer requests while creating an enjoyable experience for families. Jasinski said bringing back the Crown Nuggets allows the company to offer customers a product many have been asking for. He also said the partnership with Crayola was about encouraging creativity and imagination in children and families, as the Sun’s report noted.
Burger King also introduced the Jalapeño Whopper as part of its latest menu update. Some observers believe Burger King introduced the Jalapeño Whopper in an effort to compete more aggressively with rival fast-food chain Wendy’s.
The latest closures underscore a mixed picture for Burger King, which continues to close some restaurants across the U.S. even as the company invests in hiring thousands of employees and launching new products.
