The incident occurred near the Old West Side Music Festival, a two-day event held annually in Toledo’s historic district that features live music, food vendors, family tours and shopping.
Heffernan further stated that two of the victim The situation is critical. The victims ranged in age from 14 to 61, with the majority in their early 20s.
“I would say most people, if you want average, I would say early 20s,” Toledo Police Lt. Dan Gerken said, according to ClickOnDetroit.

Gerken further said detectives are currently in the initial stages of a complex investigation and are dependent on evidence collected at the scene as well as information provided by the public.
“It’s really still in the early stages of the investigation,” Gerken said, according to ClickOnDetroit. “We’re talking to multiple people, including victims and witnesses. We’re looking at camera footage.”
Gerken chose not to release details about potential suspects and said investigators were examining evidence and determining exactly what happened. “As far as who we’re looking for, what we’ve gathered and everything so far, that’s for another time,” he said.

Authorities are asking anyone with information, photos or video related to the shooting to contact investigators.
“The bottom line is, if you have information, please send it to the police department so we can follow up,” Gerken said.
Asked whether any of the attackers were injured, Gerken said he thought it was unlikely based on the information he had.
Officials said they are also investigating the exact sequence of the shootings and the shooter’s position relative to the crowd.
Gerken noted that detectives only recently obtained the video evidence and are reviewing it. “We’re at the mercy of the evidence and the video that we’re collecting,” Gerken said.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, Gerken expressed assurances about the progress investigators have made in the first hours of the case.
However, he stressed the importance of community cooperation in identifying and pursuing those responsible. “Talk to your kids,” Gerken said. “There are kids out there who probably know more than all of us standing here.”
The probe remains active.
