A shooting was reported Thursday in the 2700 block of East 170th Street in Lansing, Illinois, across from local police and fire departments. Lansing police are investigating a shooting at a business there, according to Courtney Spinelli, WGN News.

The publication reports that the suspect is a black man wearing a red rag, a black hoodie and a white surgical mask over his face. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds and was last seen southbound on 170th Street, according to police.
Details of the injury were not immediately available. The Lansing Daily News reported that a message was sent out by the Citizen Ready Alert System after the shooting stating that the perpetrator was at large.
“Lansing Police are asking residents to shelter in place. A shooting has occurred in the 2700 block of 170th Street. The offender is at large and LPD and numerous law enforcement agencies are working to locate him. The offender is described as a black male, 5’8″ tall, 160 pounds, wearing a black rag, black hoodie and white surgical mask. The offender was last seen southbound on 170th Street. If you see anything suspicious and/or anyone matching the description, please call 911,” the message reported read.
A page on Facebook shared a map showing the area where the shooting occurred and highlighting the distance from the police station.
“Lansing…an EMS box alert was issued in response to a reported shooting at 2701 E 170TH ST,” the page reads.
Another person shared video of the ongoing manhunt following the shooting.
“A manhunt is underway outside the Lansing Police Department and Fire Department following the shooting… If you see anything suspicious, or anyone who matches the description, please call 911,” the person wrote.

Some people are reacting to news of the Lansing shooting and subsequent manhunt. “Everyone shelter in place!!!!” one person urged as police searched for the suspect.
Another netizen said: “Praying for the family and co-workers of the shooting. Praying for everyone’s safety.” Another local noted: “Well my street is blocked off now and there are helicopters above me.” One person hoping for a quick resolution commented: “I hope LPD catches him and locks him up forever!!!”.
Meanwhile, another person commented on the day’s events in Illinois, explain “It’s been a hell of a day for Illinois. A car on the Eisenhower basically exploded, there was a shooting at the Amazon distribution center in Melrose Park, and now there’s a shelter in Lansing and people are wondering why I left Illinois.”
