Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner continues to make headlines with reports on Saturday that he maintains an active profile on Kik. Kik is a messaging service that often raises concerns due to security concerns and its use for anonymous chats.

The latest revelations come as Plattner’s campaign continues to grapple with controversies involving past social media posts, accusations of sexually explicit messages and criticism of tattoos widely associated with Nazi symbolism.

Graham Platner’s semi-nude profile picture on Kik
According to the New York Post, Plattner allegedly ran a Kik account under the username “phustle0331,” which was allegedly similar to usernames he used on other platforms such as Reddit.
this new york post shared a profile photo from the Kik account, which shows a shirtless man with tattoos that appear to be consistent with those publicly associated with Platner.
Plattner is pictured wearing only a towel. His entire chest was exposed and numerous tattoos were clearly visible. He appears to be standing in the bathroom taking a picture of himself in the mirror, but his head is not visible in the photo.
Other identifying elements include a number of tattoos, such as Asian scripts on his right chest and on the sleeves of both arms. However, his infamous “Totenkopf” skull tattoo is covered up by his hand. The skull and crossbones symbol represents the Nazi SS death squads who murdered six million Jews during the Holocaust.
Plattner reportedly told the media that he had deleted the Kik app from his phone. But he doesn’t appear to have deleted the account itself.
Forbes According to reports, about 60% of Kik’s 15 million monthly active users are between the ages of 13 and 24. The app has also been at the center of numerous pedophilia scandals, the outlet reported. The National Center on Sexual Exploitation also calls it a “predator’s paradise.”
The reports surfaced alongside allegations that he exchanged sexually explicit messages with multiple women during their marriage.
Two controversies in one day
Plattner’s Kik account sparked controversy after reports that his wife, Amy Gertner, notified campaign officials in 2025 that she had discovered sexually explicit messages her husband had sent to other women.
according to wall street journalthe disclosure came during internal opposition research conducted by campaign staff in response to potential attacks by political opponents.
In a statement released by Plattner’s campaign, Gertner said the couple sought counseling privately and resolved the issue. She criticized the public disclosure of details about their marriage and said she continued to support Platner’s candidacy.
Former campaign political director Genevieve McDonald, who reportedly left the campaign over separate controversies, believes the Senate demands “moral clarity and integrity.”
Campaign faces growing controversy
A few months ago, Plattner faced backlash for a resurfaced Reddit post that contained vulgar remarks about women, religion and military life.
He also said in 2013 that women who fear being raped should not get so drunk that they “end up having sex with someone they don’t intend to.” He has now apologized for the statement.
