'Shut up you ugly...': White House adviser Stephen Miller insulted by Democrats, Katie Miller responds

A Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer sparked a row after the party’s official X account insulted White House adviser Stephen Miller. The controversy began when the official Democratic account responded to one of Miller’s posts: “Shut up, you ugly bastard.” Because the message came from a National Party verified account, rather than a personal or campaign account, it went viral quickly.Shortly after, Paulina Mangubat, the Democratic National Committee’s senior digital strategist, appeared to quote the exchange from her own X account. “The team just cast Stephen Miller, who is ugly, evil, cruel, and bald,” she wrote.Mangubat, 30, currently serves as deputy chief mobilization officer for the Democratic National Committee, according to her LinkedIn profile. She served as the party’s digital content and creative director and worked on rapid-response messaging and social media strategies for the Democratic Party. She graduated from Barnard College in 2017 and also served as digital and creative director for the campaign of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, where she handled online messaging and campaign communications.Online speculation linked Mangubat directly to the Democratic Party’s Account X, but that account was run by a larger social media team of about a dozen employees. The group is free to react online and shape the party’s tone on social media platforms. The exchange began after a Democratic account posted an endorsement of Texas Senate candidate James Talarico. Miller responded by falsely claiming that Democrats had nominated a transgender Senate candidate.“Democrats made history in Texas by nominating the first transgender Senate candidate,” Miller wrote, which many viewed as an attack on Talarico. In another post, Miller claimed Talarico was “transitioning,” even though there was no evidence the candidate was transgender.Democrats responded to the remarks with the now-viral insult, sparking a backlash from conservatives.Stephen Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, who later publicly called out Mangubat, criticized the post and pointed out that Mangubat was one of the people behind the account. In a post on X, Katie Miller described Mangubat as “unmarried and childless” and said she should “put [her] It has a name written on it. “Mangubat responded, posting a photo of herself trying on a wedding dress and writing, “Well now seems like a good time to share that I’m getting married! We just paid the deposit for the venue and bought my dress lol.”Just a day earlier, another controversy occurred involving the Democratic Party’s X account. A Memorial Day post featuring 13 fallen U.S. service members and criticism of Donald Trump was deleted after facing bipartisan criticism.Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth condemned the news, writing: “Using our heroic dead for political attacks on Memorial Day is deeply offensive. I am a Democrat and I condemn this post from the Democratic National Committee.”
