‘Hindus and Muslims team up to take over Texas’: Rioters use hate speech at Frisco City Council meeting on Jan. 6
Council meetings in Frisco, Texas, have long been a platform for scoring social media points with hate speech against Native Americans. The latest of these was January 6 rioter Edward Jacob Lang, who attended the May 19 Security Council meeting and called India a “bastard” without naming India. “Hindus and Muslims are joining forces to take over Texas. This is not a fight between Muslims and Hindus. They are here to eliminate Christians; they are here to drive us out of our homes,” Long said.“You have to understand. These people don’t want to assimilate. They’re not here to be Americans. They’re here to drag their Third World culture into our country. If Jainism and Hinduism are so great, why are there national assholes? They brought this ideology here,” Long said, calling the United States a Christian nation.Edward Jacob Lang, a conservative activist, Florida U.S. Senate candidate and native New Yorker who rioted on January 6, was pardoned by President Donald Trump. Long had to be escorted out of the meeting because his allotted speaking time had expired. “If I lived in Texas, I would burn down one of these mosques,” he shouted.The council meeting drew attention, with more than 40 people signing up to speak on an agenda item that included council approving plans to build a mosque, a Hindu temple and a Jain temple on land that has been zoned for any place of worship for more than 25 years.Mayor Jeff Cheney said authorities must approve the projects if they meet all planning and zoning requirements. “In all three cases, the zoning was approved 25 years ago,” Cheney said.“What is before us tonight is not a policymaking agenda item. “This is a procedural administrative decision based on zoning. Policy development happened 25 to 30 years ago,” he said.The land for Jain temples, Hindu temples and mosques were demarcated in 1984, 1993 and 2000 respectively.
