Discussions in India regarding the sale of media rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are ongoing and must be kept confidential at this stage. “The issue has also been brought before the courts. The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Prasar Bharati seeking broadcast of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in India. The matter is expected to be heard again next week.

Uncertainty over broadcast rights is not limited to India. Although the World Cup is just a month away, FIFA has yet to finalize a broadcast deal in China.
