Lure’s business partner and girlfriend, Jenna Lawrence, said ICE agents followed them while they were picking up supplies for a catering event over the weekend, ABC7 reported.

“They pulled him out of the car. They put him on the floor. They pulled me back, guns drawn, and they grabbed him,” she recalled.

Lure’s convictions in Connecticut date back about 30 years. He has already served time for the crime. Lawrence claimed the investigation began after a former employee reported the restaurant to authorities, claiming there was a gun inside, a violation of Luhr’s parole.

According to Lawrence, this is needed for protection.

“We have a tough neighborhood. We get robbed. Windows are broken, fences are jumped,” she said.

“While preparing for a catering event for our La Granja Rotisserie and Fuego Rotisserie businesses, Carlos and I set out to pick up needed supplies. Unbeknownst to us we were being followed by ICE agents. As soon as we got out of the car, Carlos was forcibly detained. A gun was drawn, he was violently taken away, and when I tried to approach him, I was stopped. This was one of the most heartbreaking and traumatic moments of my life,” Lawrence wrote on the paper.

“Carlos is not the same person he was 30 years ago. Over the past three decades, he has dedicated his life to becoming a respected chef, mentor, business owner, father and hard-working member of our community. He has spent years building businesses, creating jobs, mentoring young chefs, and immersing himself in the food and hospitality industries,” she added.

Lawrence explained that Carlos’ detention and possible deportation threaten both his family and “the businesses and employees who rely on him every day.” “We are now facing significant legal bills, immigration fees, business difficulties and emergency expenses while trying to secure his future,” she explained.

She added: “Carlos has given back for years through food, mentorship and community. Now, we are asking our community to stand by his side during the most difficult time of his life. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, compassion and prayers.”

As of this writing, $820 of the $8,000 goal has been raised.
