NEW DELHI: In a rare incident of outright boycott, chief justice of india Surya Kant has denied the statement made by him that is circulating on social media. The CJI’s statement came as a social media account mistakenly attributed the following remarks, originally published in Hindi, to him: “If a society, even after producing IAS, IPS, CJI, President and Prime Minister, still chooses to continue to be exploited, then the fault lies not with the Brahmins but with its own mentality.“Calling the situation “despicable, brazen and mischievous”, the CJI said in a statement to PTI that “fabricating false citations and attributing them to the country’s highest judiciary is an act of gross dishonesty, deliberate social sedition and flouting of constitutional values.”“Such reckless behavior undermines the foundation of public trust in justice and the rule of law,” he further added in the statement. The statement called the claim a fabrication and said: “These attributions are completely baseless, malicious and patently false.”It further urged vigilance against the spread of misinformation and said: “The Office of the Chief Justice of India calls on all responsible citizens, media organizations and social media platforms to refrain from amplifying false and artificial content.”
