According to Nottinghamshire Police, a red Vauxhall Astra knocked down several pedestrians in Market Place at around 1:10 a.m. local time.One man suffered life-threatening injuries and four others suffered less serious injuries. Emergency services attended the scene and the three victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the area on foot shortly after the incident. According to the BBC, police have identified a suspect, believed to be a white man, and are conducting searches to find him.Investigators believe there was an argument in downtown Arnold shortly before the car plowed into the crowd.
Police rule out terror angle
Authorities said the incident was not considered terror-related and stressed there was no ongoing threat to the wider public.Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow said the incident would be of “serious concern” to the community and appealed for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone footage to come forward.
The road is blocked during the investigation
A massive police cordon remained in place on Saturday as investigations continued. Roads around Market Place, including parts of Gedling Road, Derby Street, Hallams Lane and Central Avenue, are closed.Local councilor Michael Payne urged residents not to speculate while police investigations continue and said the community would support those affected by the incident.
