KOLKATA: Five BJP workers were injured when bike-borne gangsters allegedly hurled bombs at them near the house of RG Kar rape-murder case victim Panihati on Wednesday night. Police arrested three people based on CCTV footage. The victim’s mother, who contested and won the Panihati assembly seat on the ticket of the BJP, condemned the attack. “Among those injured were several people who were actively involved in my poll campaign,” she told TOI. In Howrah, two workers of the BJP’s minority cell and a pedestrian were seriously injured after multiple bombs were hurled at them during a victory parade on Thursday. Their condition is said to be critical. The arrested suspects have been taken to a local court, police said. They suspect this is the result of previous competition. In another case, Somnath Dhar, a BJP functionary in Bala Nagar constituency, was allegedly stabbed and his family members were also attacked near their home. In Basirhat in North 24 Parganas, BJP’s Rohit Roy sustained gunshot injuries during a clash between the TMC and the BJP on Wednesday night.
