Senior police officers, forensic experts, a dog unit and a bomb disposal squad were at the scene to assess the situation. The area has been cordoned off.

Jalandhar police chief Dhanpreet Kaur told PTI that it was too early to tell whether there was an explosion.“Prima facie, the fact is that an Activa (scooter) parked here caught fire. We are still on the ground to verify the facts,” she said.The impact of the explosion scattered debris several meters and damaged a traffic light pole. Forensic teams have been at the scene collecting vital evidence and samples.Police have been questioning the owner of the motorcycle, Gurpreet Singh. He told police his vehicle was about to undergo mechanical repairs and that he worked for a delivery company. Officials said he parked the vehicle outside the BSF headquarters after giving the order.Security QuestionThe incident comes a day after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is scheduled to visit Jalandhar during the ‘Shukrana Yatra’ on Wednesday and stay at his official residence in Old Baradari.
