White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino shared the video on X. The video shows Rubio wearing headphones and leaning over a DJ set while playing electronic dance music. As the music plays, guests dance on the floor.
“Not so long ago, behind the scenes,” Scavino wrote. “Our great Secretary of State Marco Rubio also DJed at the wedding!”
“Let’s go!!!” he added.
Scavino said Rubio “did a great job tonight at a family wedding.” Rubio is nicknamed the “Secretary of Everything.”
According to the Daily Mail, Rubio appeared to be immersed in the music in the video, at one point making gestures to adjust the tempo while the song “Shiver” by John Samit and Hella was playing. He was also seen pumping his fist and the crowd reacted in kind.
Rubio currently serves as secretary of state and is associated with other senior Trump administration responsibilities, including national security responsibilities.
The video went viral, with some praising the light-hearted moment while others criticized it, pointing to ongoing global tensions and policy challenges facing governments. Critics questioned the timing of the appearance, while supporters said it was a private celebration. Some users also said it showed Rubio’s versatility and ability to connect with people outside formal politics.
The Florida Republican has been rising in profile in MAGA circles recently, with some polls suggesting he could emerge as a potential future presidential contender.
Rubio’s appearance behind the DJ booth comes at a moment when other top U.S. political figures are gaining popularity, including President Donald Trump, who recently joked about his dance moves at a public event in Florida.
Meanwhile, the White House continues to focus on foreign policy, particularly involving Iran and ongoing tensions in Latin America, areas where Rubio has played a visible role.
