It also shared video of the rescue operation.District Magistrate Shivsharanappa told ANI that three children fell and two others were trapped on top of the water tank when the structure collapsed.“There was an incident where five children climbed on top of a water tank to record a reel and three of them fell from the tank when the stairs broke. One of the children died and the other two are undergoing treatment at the medical college,” he said.He added that the operation to rescue the trapped children required coordination between the fire department and the Indian Air Force due to the difficult terrain and inaccessible roads.“To rescue the two children who were still on the tank, we first called fire engines from Gorakhpur. As the soil was very muddy and the roads were not repaired, we consulted the air force officials in Gorakhpur as part of plan B. They sent a helicopter around 5 am today and the two children were safely rescued and brought to their parents’ home. We are grateful to the chief minister’s office whose coordination provided the air force and ensured a successful and speedy operation,” said Shivshara Napa.
