Hindutva to consolidate Bengal voter surge: BJP

New Delhi: Amid conflicting inferences about record voter turnout in Bengal, bjp Friday took credit for Hindu integration and dismissed CM Mamata BanerjeeConcerns about inappropriate behavior serve to distract from the ominous consequences. The BJP claims that the sharp rise in voter turnout in this poll is a result of Hindu consolidation as Muslims have historically supported the Trinamool.Amit Malviya, a BJP official, said this showed a clear change in people’s attitude towards Mamata. “This election comes against a deeply worrying backdrop – recurring communal tensions in areas like Malda and Murshidabad; exodus of Hindus from some parts of the state; heart-wrenching incidents like Sandesh Khali; and the horrific rape and murder in RG Kar. These are not isolated incidents; they shape public sentiment over time,” he said. The election represented a response – more people voting without fear of demanding “responsibility, security and dignity”, the BJP functionary added. He stressed that the country “voted for change, stability and the restoration of trust in governance”.As Mamata stormed into the EVM vault and asked TMC members to be alert, Malviya claimed her theatrics could be Bengal’s most visible “exit polls”.
